Veronica Johnson

Hi, my name is Veronica Johnson alias “Kitsnbitscraps”.  I have been doing crafts since I can remember. My mom taught my twin sisters and I to knit, sew, cross stitch, embroidery, and I was always coloring and sketching.  I was raised in Southern California in a little town by the beach called Hermosa – then I was transferred to South Florida.  I was introduced to scrapbooking by my new co-workers in Florida and that was 12 years ago. That is when I became addicted to paper! I have kept busy by teaching scrapbook and stamping classes at scrapbook stores and conventions and love every minute of it. From the first time I walked into a scrapbook store I was hooked! I even went as far as buying a Scrapbook Store, then I opened an online Kit Club – finally I became a sales representative for the scrapbook industries manufacturers and sold and represented companies such as Ranger Industries, Prima Marketing, WeR Memory Keepers, BoBunny … good times.

I am very blessed to be married to my wonderful husband Kerry who is very supportive of my passion for color and pattern. And I am so blessed to be a mother to my beautiful and very kind daughter Vanessa who can draw better than I and is an inspiring make-up artist. Our family also has two fur babies, Bandit and Moe our kitties.
I have a passion for creating and sharing my love of crafting, whether it’s cards, layouts, albums, altered and mixed media; I love doing it all. I also enjoy bringing new tidbits and techniques to inspire as many crafters as I can through color.  If I had to name my style I would say “Shabby Whimsy” because I always start projects with lots of color then depending on my mood I will shabby it down with browns, texture and layers.  Each day is a new adventure and every day I try and learn something new.  I am grateful to be a part of this amazing company and hope that I can inspire you.

I wish each of my new design team buddies the best.  Can't wait to see what they create and I am so happy to be one of the design team members.  I have lots of ideas rolling around in my head so be sure to go to Leaky Shed Studios and see what we all create, we want you to be inspired and will try our best.

Making Paper Piecings Today for my Etsy Store

Today I am updating my Etsy Store Kitsnbitscraps and wanted to add some whimsical pages for family albums.

So I decided to make these cute Sesame Street Characters.  They are two page 12x12 layouts and they are on sale in my Premade Pages Section.  I will be adding some more sesame street characters soon.

Everyone once in a while I feel the urge to make paper piecings.  I think they are so cute and they make me happy.

Go on over to my Kitsnbitscraps Etsy store and see what other pages, albums and altered items I have posted.

Egg Cartons and Coffee Filters With Art Anthology

Hi its my turn over at Art Anthology and I made a bouquet of flowers!

This is my second project celebrating Earth Day.  As our challenge for the month we were asked to use  recycled, repurposed items around the house to celebrate Earth Day.  My first recycled project was the old Christmas box I had for a couple of years.  Here is a link to the video I made for Art Anthology click here:   Kitsnbitscraps

Now for my second project I made these cute flowers from coffee filters and egg cartons!

I really love the Art Anthology sorbets and velvets.  The coverage is amazing and the colors stay true.  On more of the porous items (ex. egg carton) it is better if you put down a base of gesso first so the paint doesn't get all soaked up.

I took lots of pictures of my process for each flower and made a video so please go on over to Art Anthology and let me know what you think.

Thank you for stopping by and happy scrapping

Art Anthology Product Used:
Sorbet: Mi Bella, Baby Blue Eyes; Colorations:  Guacamole, Paprika, Juicy, Glorious; Dimensional Crystal: Blue Bird, Guava;  Velvet: Lemon Tart, Cotton Candy, Tango; Gesso

Other Product Used:
Coffee filters, Egg Carton, Flower tape, Artificial flower centers, beads, pearls, corrugated box, burlap, fabric

I also added my Art Anthology video to my you tube channel:  Kitsnbitscraps

Musical Pop Up Box Card at Leaky Shed Studio

Hi, today I have a pop up box card featured over at Leaky Shed Studio.

I was just told about these cards and I think that they are awesome.  If you want to make one go on over to Split Coast Stampers tutorial with Dina.

Most of the cards that I saw were made with stamped images but I thought it would be great to use Leak Shed Studio chipboard!  I wanted to use some musical notes that I had so that was my inspiration for the pop up box Birthday Card.

Go on over to Leaky Shed Studio to see more photos of my Pop Up Music Box card and also the techniques I used on the Leaky Shed Studio chipboard shapes.

Thank you for stopping by and letting me share my card with you today.

Hope you enjoyed ...

Recycle Challenge over at Art Anthology

The Art Anthology design team ladies were challenged to create a project using recycled materials in honor of Earth Day on April 22nd.

So today I would like to share my Re-purposed project.  A couple of years ago I bought several Christmas boxes and I still had a couple of them left so ... I decided to decorate my Christmas box with only what I had around the house.

I also got my Art Anthology color pallet together.

Since my challenge was to Re-Use, Re-Cycle I tried not to use any manufactured embellishments, so I made my own flowers and leaves.  One of the things I did was to use burlap and cardboard to make my leaves.

I loved using up bits and pieces I and recycling; this was a great challenge and it was fun.  I hope you enjoyed my decorated box today.  Please go on over to Art Anthology and say hello.  I have posted a video on the blog.

Happy Scrapping
